What is Laser Blepharoplasty?
The lower eyelid is one of the areas where the effects of ageing can become particularly noticeable. Under-eye bags, hollows, loose skin and a tired appearance are not caused by one single change — they are usually the result of changes to the orbital fat, supporting tissues, skin, bone and the midface.
Lower blepharoplasty is designed to address these changes in a balanced way, helping to create a smoother transition between the lower eyelid and cheek while preserving a natural appearance.
Modern lower blepharoplasty is not simply about removing fat.
In suitable patients, the aim is to reduce, preserve or reposition orbital fat according to the individual’s anatomy. This can help soften the under-eye bulge while avoiding an unnecessarily hollow appearance. Fat repositioning can also help smooth the transition between the lower eyelid and the upper cheek.
The surgical approach is carefully selected according to the amount of skin excess, fat prominence, tear trough hollowing, eyelid support and the relationship between the eyelid and cheek.
